I tend to write rhyming poetry, usually about experiences or moments that I notice.
I often use poetry to relate stories, some of which I have direct knowledge of, others which have attracted my attention and in which I have recognised poetic charm.
I try to focus on the emotion of the moment, often drawing upon my experiences in the present, in nature and in my past life as a police officer, to find the raw feelings of love, devotion, dedication, compassion, sorrow and joy that we all feel.
There are also some moments of terror and horror.
All result in relatable emotions and heartfelt experiences that make us laugh, gasp, pause to think, recognise love or maybe even cry a tear.
To know that my poetry has had this effect on people makes me both happy and sad, but it is through such emotion, that we become human.
